Carbon footprint

Carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases (GHGs) emitted into the atmosphere as a result of human activities, typically measured in tons of CO2-equivalent (CO2e). These gases, mainly carbon dioxide (CO2), but also methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and fluorinated gases, contribute to global warming and climate change. The carbon footprint is often calculated for individuals, organizations, products, or events, and it helps to assess the environmental impact of activities like transportation, energy consumption, food production, waste generation, and manufacturing.
